Legacy Smart Connect Custom GPT setup

This page documents the older Smart Connect app and its manual Custom GPT/OpenAPI setup.
It is not the current Connect Pro setup for new users, and it is not evidence that the same API, key, or authentication path is supported today.
Use the current Connect Pro documentation for current supported behavior. Start with Getting started with Connect Pro for the shortest verified workflow.
Use the current Connect Pro path
- Open the Connect Pro guide.
- Complete the current Obsidian, CLI, account, and connection requirements shown by the installed build.
- Continue only after the desktop plugin shows an explicit connected status and a visible Disconnect control.
- Start with one low-risk, reversible action.
- Compare the reported result with the actual change in Obsidian.
Existing Smart Connect users
Installing Connect Pro does not automatically migrate an older Smart Connect setup.
Before changing a working configuration:
- preserve the setup that already works
- record the current Smart Connect and Obsidian versions
- contact support for the supported migration or API path
- verify one reversible action before expanding scope
Do not create a new Custom GPT, import an OpenAPI schema, or copy a Local API Key from this archived page as part of a new Connect Pro setup.
