Smart Mission
Smart Mission exists because AI is already reshaping every workplace. The choice is whether independent people keep agency over their workflows or rent it back from platforms. We design local-first, user-owned tools so creators, researchers, and teams can experiment faster without surrendering control of their notes or losing the review trail around their work.
The problem
- Platforms centralize knowledge, throttle experimentation, and turn innovators into renters.
- AI workflows often make it unclear what context was used, what left the user's machine, and where the outcome, thread, review state, and latest draft live afterward.
- Independent builders struggle to fund the tooling that keeps them competitive without becoming dependent on opaque platforms.
Our promise
- Private by default. Clear about what leaves your machine. Core local retrieval can run inside Obsidian. A configured cloud embedding or ranking provider receives eligible source text for that operation. A cloud chat or generation provider receives the prompt and context sent with the request. Clipboard and action workflows cross a boundary only when the user copies, pastes, connects, or sends through the selected workflow.
- Source-available Core and shared foundations. Core Smart Plugins remain source-available under the Smart Plugins License, which is not an OSI open-source license. Source availability for a Pro component should be stated on that component's current product, repository, or license page rather than inferred from Pro access.
- Community co-creation. Users and supporters contribute priorities and shape how new plugins behave.
- Practical guidance. We turn abstract AI ideas into workflows you can run and review today.
Invitation
If that future sounds right, join us in building it. The support of Pro users covers development hours, community sessions, and audits that keep the Core and shared foundations trustworthy.
