Connect Pro reaches your running desktop vault through a connected session. If Obsidian Desktop is closed or Connect Pro is disconnected, the Official GPT cannot run vault commands.

Your desktop vault is reachable while Obsidian Desktop is running and Connect Pro is connected. Connect when needed, review what changed in Obsidian, and disconnect when done.

Connect Pro is a connected command session, not a hidden background agent. It is also not Obsidian Sync or a standalone mobile vault replacement.
Quick start
- Leave Obsidian Desktop running.
- Install Connect Pro and connect your vault.
- Open the Official Connect Pro GPT in ChatGPT.
- Run the setup check: create one test note.
- Try the first real workflow: from ChatGPT on another device, append a line to today's daily note.
- Review the result in Obsidian.
- Disconnect when done, or continue with one bounded workflow.

Open the Official GPT
Use the Official Connect Pro GPT once Connect Pro is installed, Obsidian CLI is enabled, Obsidian Desktop is running, and your vault is connected.
Setup check: create one test note
Paste this into the Official GPT after your vault is connected:
Create a note named "Connect Pro Test" with this content:

Open the note in Obsidian when done.
You know setup worked when the test note is visible in Obsidian and ChatGPT reports the command result.
This setup check is intentionally small:
- it creates one clearly named test note
- it is easy to inspect
- it is easy to delete
- it proves the ChatGPT -> Official GPT -> Connect Pro -> Obsidian CLI -> desktop vault path
First real workflow: capture to today's daily note
After the setup check works, try the part that is unique to Connect Pro: use ChatGPT away from Obsidian to reach your connected desktop vault.
From ChatGPT on your phone or another device where the Official GPT is available, ask:
Append this to today's daily note:
- [ ] Follow up on the idea I captured from ChatGPT.
Open today's daily note when done.
You know it worked when today's daily note in Obsidian shows the new line.

FAQ
Can I use this from my phone?
Yes, when the Official GPT is available in ChatGPT and your desktop vault is running and connected. Obsidian Desktop still runs the vault side of the workflow.
Does my desktop need to stay on?
Yes. Connect Pro reaches your running desktop Obsidian vault. If Obsidian Desktop is closed or Connect Pro is disconnected, the Official GPT cannot run vault commands.
Is this Obsidian Sync or a mobile vault replacement?
No. Connect Pro is a ChatGPT-to-desktop-vault command bridge. It does not replace Obsidian Sync or the Obsidian mobile app.
Is this an always-on background agent?
No. Treat it as a connected command session. Connect when needed, review what changed, and disconnect when done.
Is Connect Pro the same as Smart Chat?
No. Smart Chat keeps conversations attached to notes. Connect Pro is for running vault commands from ChatGPT through the Official GPT when your workflow needs the connected desktop vault.
Where is the Smart Connect app?
The Smart Connect app is being replaced by Connect Pro as the recommended path for ChatGPT + Obsidian integration.
Is SC App still available?
SC App remains available for Pro subscribers in the near term, but Connect Pro is now the default recommended path.
Is there an OpenAPI endpoint for this setup?
Not in v1. The Official GPT is the supported path for lower setup and support overhead.
