Smart Templates commands

Smart Templates keeps the command surface intentionally small.

The main command

• Smart Templates: Open template context

This opens the shared Template Context modal.

From there you can:

• start from the current note or selection
• add more context
• select templates
• copy a prompt
• generate inside Obsidian if you use Pro

Other entry points

Ribbon icon

The ribbon icon opens the same shared modal.

Use it when you want a visible always-available entry point instead of a hotkey.

File menu

Right-click a Markdown or text file in the file navigator and choose:

• Open template context

This opens the modal seeded with that specific file.

That is useful when you want the clicked file to be the context anchor even if another note is currently open.
